Configure blocking from call history
Block or unblock specific callers from the Elder Dialler call history, and understand how this differs from Advanced Safe Call Mode.
Block or unblock a caller
- Press CALLS or CONTACTS/HIST to open the calls register.
- Find the caller in the history list. Make sure it is the number you want to block or unblock.
- Press and hold the history entry. Elder Dialler opens the action menu for that caller.
- Select Block or Unblock. The available action depends on the caller's current state.
- Use the updated call history. Explicitly blocked numbers are rejected before Safe Call Mode checks are applied.
Blocking limitations: If in pinned mode, Elder Dialler will not block speed dial contacts. In any mode, Elder Dialler will not block contacts designated as emergency contacts. Emergency contacts are contacts entered with an exclamation mark placed somewhere within their name, for example !Dr. Paul Smith or Dr. Paul Smith!.
How this relates to Safe Call Mode
Safe Call Mode is an Advanced preference. When enabled, it configures the phone to only accept incoming calls from contacts set up in the phone. If anyone tries to call, and they are not set up as a contact in the phone, Safe Call Mode will reject them. Safe Call Mode also rejects invalid or private numbers in a similar way. Blocking a specific number is entirely separate functionality that can be configured from call history and applied to incoming numbers.
