How Elder Dialler handles information

Understand which information remains on the phone and why permissions are needed.

Information used on the phone

Contacts

With permission, Elder Dialler reads saved contact names, numbers and optional photos for contact selection, speed dials, SOS contacts and Safe Call Mode matching.

App settings

Theme, font, speed-dial assignments, SOS order, blocked numbers and other choices are stored in the app's private local settings.

Call information

Elder Dialler maintains its own call-history information for the app. The current Android manifest does not request permission to read the phone's general Android call log.

Current Android permissions

The production app requests only permissions needed for its phone role and enabled features, including calling, Contacts, phone state, audio settings and notifications. Google Play Billing is used for the optional Advanced purchase.

The current app manifest does not request Android's INTERNET permission or READ_CALL_LOG permission.

Diagnostic reports are optional

  1. Logging is off until enabled. Diagnostic events are kept in private rolling files on the phone only when diagnostic logging is switched on.
  2. The report is designed to redact identifying details. The support generator is intended to exclude or replace names, phone numbers, contact identifiers, photo locations, raw call records and touch-tone digits.
  3. Turning logging off removes support files.
  4. Nothing is sent automatically. Creating a ZIP opens Android's share chooser; the user decides whether and how to send it.
Elder Dialler Support dialog for enabling diagnostic logging and preparing a diagnostic report.
The Support dialog controls diagnostic logging and user-initiated report preparation.

Review any diagnostic report before sending it. Redaction reduces risk but should not be treated as a guarantee that a report can never contain sensitive technical information.

Permission and diagnostic statements are based on the current production manifest and SupportDiagnostics implementation.
