Assign contacts to speed dials

Choose the people who should appear on Elder Dialler's large speed-dial buttons.

Two ways to assign a speed dial

Speed dials are the large buttons on the main screen. They work best when they are reserved for the people the phone user calls most often.

Long press a speed-dial button

In Normal Mode, press and hold an empty or existing speed-dial position on the main screen, then choose the contact who should use that position.

Long press a contact name

Open CONTACTS, press and hold the person's name, then use the action menu to assign that person to a speed-dial position.

  1. Prepare contacts first. Check the person's name and phone number before assigning them.
  2. Choose the speed-dial layout. Preferences can show 6, 8 or 10 positions.
  3. Assign the most important contacts. Keep the first screen easy to recognise rather than filling every position immediately.
  4. Use each assigned button when ready. Use consenting contacts and make sure the displayed name and number are correct.
  5. Pin the app after speed-dial contacts are assigned. Speed-dial reassignment is limited once the screen is pinned.

A speed-dial button can be assigned or cleared from the main screen while the app is not pinned.

A contact can also be assigned to a speed-dial position from the Contacts screen.

Speed-dial assignment instructions are based on the current Elder Dialler contact and main-screen flows.
