Troubleshooting

Work through common calling, contact, permission and display problems.

Check one cause at a time

  1. Confirm Elder Dialler is still the default phone app. Re-select it in Android settings if another app has taken the role.
  2. Review permissions. Contacts permission is needed for contact selection and Safe Call Mode. Calling permission is needed to place calls.
  3. Confirm normal mobile calls work. Check the SIM, signal, account and carrier outside Elder Dialler.
  4. Change only one setting. Try the call again before changing something else.

A saved caller is rejected

Check that Safe Call Mode is on intentionally, Contacts permission is granted, and the incoming number matches the saved Contact including country and area codes. Also check that the number was not explicitly blocked.

A speed-dial button is empty or incorrect

Open the Contacts list while Elder Dialler is not pinned. Check the saved contact number and use the long-press assignment controls. Review the selected 6, 8 or 10-button layout.

Calls connect but audio is unsuitable

Review the Loudspeaker preference, Android call volume and any connected Bluetooth device. Make a call to a consenting contact after each change.

The phone is stuck in Pin Screen

Hold the Elder Dialler clock for five seconds to open help or exit information, then use the Android unpin action for that phone. Android's action varies by device and navigation mode.

SOS does not call the expected person

Check that the SOS Button is enabled, review the assigned SOS contacts and their order, and confirm each number with a non-emergency test. Never use an emergency-service number for testing.

Prepare a diagnostic report

If the problem remains and the build includes Support, enable diagnostic logging, reproduce the problem, add an incident marker if available, then prepare the redacted ZIP. Sending remains a separate user-controlled action.

If there is immediate danger or a medical emergency, use the phone's normal emergency-call method. Website support is not an emergency service.
