Make Elder Dialler the default phone app
Complete the required Android default-phone setup before feature permissions.
Complete the Android phone role first
- Open Elder Dialler and read the first-run explanation. It explains why the app needs phone-related access.
- Continue to the Android default phone app prompt.
- Choose Elder Dialler as the default phone app. The exact Android wording and appearance can vary by phone.
- Grant a feature permission when Elder Dialler requests it. Becoming the default phone app does not automatically grant Contacts permission.
- Make a call to a consenting contact. Elder Dialler shows its own outgoing and in-call screens.
If Android does not show the prompt: Open the phone's Settings and find Default apps or Phone app. The path and labels vary between devices.
Android-system examples will be labelled as Pixel 9a emulator captures running Android 16.
